On this episode of the Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran has an interview with longtime WGR-550 Buffalo radio host Brian Koziol on a variety of subjects spanning his life and career.

Koziol talks sports being a huge part of his life from when he could first remember as a kid growing up in Lancaster, New York. He played sports youth through high school and for college chose Brockport State for academic reasons, originally for communications before falling in love with broadcasting.

He was hired by WGR-550 in 2001 and has become a fixture there ever since.  After several roles over his first handful of years he started hosting intermission and postgame shows during Buffalo Sabres games in 2007-08 and has been doing it ever since. He talks about fun parts of the job as well as many challenges that come with it.

They also spend time talking about Tee-2-Green, a show he’s cohosted with Kevin Sylvester on Saturday mornings since 2001 as well as his career as a teacher and coach at Sweet Home High school, a post he’s held for 19 years.

Before wrapping up they talk Sabres hockey, including secondary scoring playing a huge role in the team’s surprisingly hot start and who may be the odd man out when Brandon Montour soon returns.

You can follow Brian on Twitter @BrianWGR and check him out on WGR-550 Buffalo in between periods and following Sabres games.

Following that Patrick’s joined by his buddy Joe (@BuffaloWins) for another installment of “The Run In With Joe.” Today they’re talking about the Buffalo Bills narrowly beating Miami last Sunday in a game that certainly lacked style points but still improved them to 5-1.

They discuss Tre’Davius White being the primary and perhaps only reason Buffalo were able to beat the hapless Dolphins, Josh Allen’s improving decision making and the welcomed consistency of John Brown before Patrick feeling like one area of the Bills vaunted defense is cause for concern and a big picture look at what to expect for the rest of the season.
