On this episode of the future award-winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest and friend Aaron Quinn from the Cover 1 Buffalo podcast in the first of a two part series discussing their Buffalo Bills draft takeaways, biggest winners and losers among the Buffalo veterans on the roster post-draft and the outlook of this team going forward now that the draft has passed.
The guys break down each of the eight Bills draft selections and discuss what they liked, and potentially didn’t like about each of the picks. It’s not a surprise Gregory Rousseau ended up being a first-round pick but at least Patrick was surprised Brandon Beane pulled the trigger on him over Jayson Oweh or Joe Tyron. Aaron examines why he considers it a good pick on a long-term basis.
Both guys admit borderline shock to Buffalo going back to defensive end in round two with Carlos Basham and especially in round three with offensive tackle Spencer Brown, particularly when a pair of cornerbacks Patrick and Aaron both coveted were available, Elijah Molden and Ifeatur Melifonwu.
They agree on liking the upside of all three of the sixth-round picks Buffalo added and also spend time looking back on the six mock drafts they did leading up to the draft, defending the process of mocks and their usefulness even if they don’t result in the players you project going to the team.
