On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over every facet of the Buffalo Bills offseason, starting now on the heels of yesterday’s smorgasbord of transactions and going through the NFL draft in late April to come with his version of what would be a realistically perfect Bills offseason.

The Bills aren’t in good cap shape (at all) and several huge moves were made this past Wednesday to get within striking distance of functional operating mode. That included the departures of vet core players Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer and Tre White not to mention Deonte Harty and Siran Neal. Even with the added cap space and more certainly to come over the next several days, there’s almost certainly not any “big ticket” additions to this roster. That doesn’t mean GM Brandon Beane can’t come up with ways to stabilize or even improve a 2023 roster that won its fourth consecutive AFC east title.

It starts with keeping your own and there’s six guys specifically Patrick thinks Beane should definitely make a strong attempt to keep in the fold.

On the free agent side of things Patrick targets a role player in Houston that could be a perfect fit in the Bills offense and he also locks in on potential replacement for Micah Hyde that shouldn’t be overly expensive. After that he welcomes literally any veteran free agent additions to the trenches.

This leads to the draft where Patrick simply cannot resist on jumping on one of the first-round talents at wide receiver—the question is does the one he really likes have enough character concerns to scare Beane away? He then goes heavy on the defensive line with his day two picks.

That and more general discussion on the Bills as the offseason officially got lit on fire this week.
