On this episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran chats with WIVB-TV Channel 4 Buffalo sports anchor Nick Filipowski about both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
The two discuss a disastrous sports week for both Buffalo teams, starting with the Bills. Nick has thoughts on the Bills blown opportunity in Cleveland, including takes on offensive coordinator Brian Dabol, quarterback Josh Allen’s true progression in what Nick still considers essentially his first-year as quarterback, a troublesome run defense of late, Levi Wallace becoming the weak link of the secondary, the lack of playing time for first-round pick Ed Oliver and much more.
They also look forward to the next seven weeks and conclude the Bills next two games against Miami and Denver are must-win if the team remains likely to reach 10 wins and earn a playoff spot at the end of the regular season.
Before wrapping up they spend time talking about the Sabres and the recent freefall that’s seen them lose four straight and six out of seven to go from leading the NHL in points to currently a point out of a playoff spot. Nick talks about the lack of secondary scoring and the struggles of the power play as a big reason why and wonders what solutions need to happen to prevent the Sabres from having a repeat of last season.
