On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by Matthew Fairburn, Buffalo Sabres beat reporter for The Athletic for a preview of the Buffalo Sabres 2022-23 season as well as a conversation about the Buffalo Bills and why Matt decided to move back to Buffalo to continue his journalism career. It’s Matt’s first appearance on the podcast in over three years.

The Sabres are set to kick off their regular season on Thursday night and fans are excited.  Matthew has plenty of thoughts on the roster and line combinations, including J.J. Peterka starting the season in Buffalo while Vinnie Hinostroza seems destined to see the press box early on. He also discusses new goaltender Eric Comrie, Owen Power’s playing partner, what he feels is the Sabres ceiling this year and a Stanley Cup prediction.
The guys also spend a little time talking about the Bills expected good start to the season and plenty of details on why Matthew decided it was best for him to come back to Buffalo and switch to covering hockey for his career. That and tons more.

You can follow Matt on Twitter at @MatthewFairburn and of course check out his coverage of the Sabres at The Athletic, where they constantly have great subscription deals.
