On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, the second of a special two part episode, Patrick Moran hosted a panel featuring four of the best hockey minds in the Buffalo media to take part in an All-Time Buffalo Sabres draft, with players from all 50 years of the franchise’s existence eligible to be selected.

The panel consists of Paul Hamilton (WGR-550), John Vogl (The Athletic), Kris Baker (Sabres Prospects) and Chad DeDominicis (Die by the Blade/Expected Buffalo).  On Tuesday’s part one the guys selected 12 forwards and two coaches.  On today’s episode Patrick recaps their selections of six defensemen each along with two goaltenders.

Due to audio issues during the segment taping, Patrick runs down the picks of all 24 defensemen and eight goaltender selections, offering some numbers and anecdotes along the way.  Some of the more interesting decisions included Rasmus Dahlin going inside the top five defensive picks, Jay McKee unexpectedly sliding down, Kris Baker’s dilemma between Bill Hajt or Alexei Zhitnik and Grant Fuhr taken third overall among goaltenders.

After that we hear a clip of Paul, John, Kris and Chad discuss the thought process behind their selections and what they thought of their respective rosters.

Patrick then gives his thoughts on each of panel’s respective teams and tries to come up with who he thinks did the best job.  More importantly, there’ll be a poll on Twitter for you to go vote @PatMoranTweets.

After that, Patrick spends the last 20 or so minutes of the podcast going on a complete tirade following the Sabres decision to retain general manager Jason Botterill for a fourth season, as announced earlier in the week. He points out some of the many reasons GM is a position that Botterill doesn’t deserve, blasts Kim Pegula’s tone in the announcement and questions if this is rock bottom when it comes to the relationship between the fans and organization.

Be sure to check out two podcasts that Patrick was a special guest on this week, Trainwreck Sports and Buckets and Dan’s Sportsland.
