For quite some time, dating back a few years I’ve wanted to start my own podcast. I’ve also wanted to have Hall & Oates play one my birthday parties, pound beers with Stone Cold Steve Austin and share a cinematic sex scene with Scarlett Johansson, but none of that has happened.
Until now.
No, not that, but I’m tremendously excited to announce the Moran-Alytics Podcast with yours truly will launch on Monday, February 19. It begins as a weekly pod with new episodes dropping on Mondays but by spring will lunge into twice-weekly, with a second show closer to the weekend.
So there’s no potential misunderstanding, let me tell you what the podcast will not be about. The term “Moran-Alytics” is simply a fun little word play on my last name. If you think you’re tuning into a show that breaks things down analytically you clearly know nothing about me. I’m still trying to decipher the data that goes into OBP and WHIP baseball stats.
What the Moran-Alytics Podcast will do is talk sports (especially the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees), music (especially 80’s music), wrestling (especially WWE) and pop culture with interview guests in the world of each. I’ve already booked a few guests over the first handful of episodes I’m excited about and think there’ll be plenty of appealing stories to tell. I’m also incorporating certain regular segments you’ll hopefully find fun.
The Moran-Alytics Podcast will be freely available at places all over like ITunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Spotify and more.
I don’t take myself seriously, literally barely at all but I’ll say this much — starting a podcast could be cheap, quick and painless. Anyone with a smart phone and a functioning human voice could technically record and publish a podcast needing nothing else. I’ve consumed the better part of the past four months learning the podcast game from scratch; spending hours most days watching videos, reading countless articles and having conversations with people in the industry. I’ve splurged for pretty good gear and audio production isn’t quite as foreign to me as it was when I decided on doing this last October.
I hope the result is a podcast both entertaining and as close to professional sounding as possible. I’m going to work (very) hard at it.
If you haven’t already, make sure you like my Moran-Alytics Facebook page and give me a follow on Twitter. Besides podcast updates I have plenty other hand-crafted to perfection posts, including my renowned 80’s music countdowns.
I’ll talk to you on February 19.
