The Buffalo Bills hosted free agent veteran quarterback T.J. Yates on Friday. Yates was with the Miami last year. Minus one game with Atlanta in 2014 he spent the majority of his career with the Houston Texans after being a fifth-round draft pick 2011.
Yates actually has big-game starting experience; starting two postseason games for Houston in 2011 and has a playoff victory to his credit. In all, he has two postseason and seven regular starts.
It’s worth noting new Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison was Yates’ coordinator in Houston during his first three years in the league.
For his career Yates has thrown for 1,534 yards with six touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The mere fact the Bills are exploring the veteran quarterback market means Cardale Jones won’t just be handed the backup role to Tyrod Taylor.
My Take: Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
