On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it’s another edition of The Podbag, where listeners control the narrative and topics for the show and Patrick Moran responds to several questions and takes focused primarily on the Buffalo Bills with a little Sabres sprinkled in as well.
The Bills loss last week at Los Angeles was just one game and the team’s still sitting at pretty at 10-3. However, the embarrassing performance by the defense has plenty people worries—and a little angry. Patrick responds to a take that Ed Oliver is basically the same type of player that Gabe Davis was, a comparison Patrick tends to agree with. There’s arguments made that the Bills defense isn’t Super Bowl caliber and that not having any true game wrecker will come back to haunt them in January.
Fans also are down on head coach Sean McDermott this week and one listener points out that any talk of McDermott being in the mix for NFL Coach of the Year went out the window last week on the west coast, while another claims that bashing McDermott is just masking how badly the defense played in addition to the costly blocked punt.
Patrick’s also asked what remains the biggest Bills mystery this year, does Saquon Barkley have a chance for MVP, what NFL retirement hit him the hardest, some strong Sabres takes and what he’d like for Christmas. That plus what fans would immediately change if they were named NFL commissioner and plenty more.
Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time.
